Peter Lynch | Learn To Earn | Full Audiobook

Mutual-fund superstar Peter Lynch and author John Rothchild explain the basic principles of the stock market and business in an investing guide that will enlighten and entertain anyone who is high-school age or older.

Many investors, including some with substantial portfolios, have only the sketchiest idea of how the stock market works. The reason, say Lynch and Rothchild, is that the basics of investing—the fundamentals of our economic system and what they have to do with the stock market—aren’t taught in school. At a time when individuals have to make important decisions about saving for college and 401(k) retirement funds, this failure to provide a basic education in investing can have tragic consequences.

For those who know what to look for, investment opportunities are everywhere. The average high-school student is familiar with Nike, Reebok, McDonald’s, the Gap, and the Body Shop. Nearly every teenager in America drinks Coke or Pepsi, but only a very few own shares in either company or even understand how to buy them. Every student studies American history, but few realize that our country was settled by European colonists financed by public companies in England and Holland—and the basic principles behind public companies haven’t changed in more than three hundred years.

In Learn to Earn, Lynch and Rothchild explain in a style accessible to anyone who is high-school age or older how to read a stock table in the daily newspaper, how to understand a company annual report, and why everyone should pay attention to the stock market. They explain not only how to invest, but also how to think like an investor.

  1. So far, the first 20 mins are an American Exceptionalism propaganda piece. The book was written in 1995 when everything he's saying (up to about the 20 min mark) was true. Its kinda cringy wenty six years later though 😬

  2. Many investors were chastened by the big stock
market drop in 2008–2009. Four years later, a lot of these investors are still not back in the market. Instead, they may be earning just a few percentage points in bonds or CDs. That's not a recipe for growing a nest egg that will provide for a comfortable retirement or fund your children's education. I am up £ 4k for the month in profits

  3. When he says "if it was true that as the rich get richer the poor get poorer then surly as america is the richest country on earth we would have created a desperate poor" surly everyone is sitting there like well yes it took slavery, sweatshops and America is still riddled with poverty, addiction and political unrest.

  4. Do not store up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moths and vermin destroy, and where thieves break in and steal. But store up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where moths and vermin do not destroy, and where thieves do not break in and steal. For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also. “No one can serve two masters. Either you will hate the one and love the other, or you will be devoted to the one and despise the other. You cannot serve both God and money. (Matthew 6:19‭-‬21‭, ‬24 NIV)

Those who want to get rich fall into temptation and a trap and into many foolish and harmful desires that plunge people into ruin and destruction. For the love of money is a root of all kinds of evil. Some people, eager for money, have wandered from the faith and pierced themselves with many griefs. (1 Timothy 6:9‭-‬10 NIV)

  5. Only MSFT, Apple, Disney is still standing in the ''innovative tech he mentions: intel, xerox, hp , etc…''' Japanese and European did win lol … peter lynch allowed me to find 5 10baggers just by looking around me

  6. I drop a job at the office to be cleaner make more money and have time to study finance investments 💴🏢💰💵💷💶… I'll be the next millionaire! 💰🤑

  7. As long as the public remains stupid, I guess me and other informed investors will be millionaires before retirement while giving a middle finger to banks and creditors

  8. What's hilarious, is there are super poor people in the USA, they're called the working poor. And middle class in massive debt so they're value is at a deficit. This is painfully out of date in 2021. Hopefully it picks up and is true again in a generation or so!

  9. I often ran into series of losses at a time and had to retrace my steps; I reinvested into the market through a professional hedge fund manager Ronald B. Furey and now I get steady payouts of my profits monthly with a total grossed profit of over $76k
